Transmissions and Clutches
Unfortunately, the transmission is the easiest vehicle part to break, and one of the most expensive to replace.
Things like extremely heavy abuse or the wrong fluid can cause the transmission in your vehicle to fail, so maintaining transmission health can save you time, money and frustration.
Here are some things you can do to help keep your transmission healthy:
- Check your transmission fluid regularly.
- Check your transmission after a period of stop and go traffic, hot weather, or towing- this can build up excess transmission heat which could cause damage to your transmission.
- Install an external cooler in high stress conditions, such as towing, hauling heavy loads or being stuck in traffic. One of the certified technicians at Auto Masters will be happy to help you with this!
- Check any malfunctions as soon as you can to help keep the cost of repair down- the longer you drive your vehicle after something's gone wrong, the more damage done.
- Keep your engine properly tuned to prevent it from displaying symptoms similar to a transmission problem
- Check your vehicle's cooling system twice a year for leaks, proper coolant level and strength.
